See it come to life.
Sunlight through paper doors.
Inspired by traditional shoji screens.
The washi paper at the heart of these pendants is made from the inner bark of the mulberry tree — an ancient natural fiber prized for its strength and translucency. Designers compare the resulting glow to sunlight filtered through traditional paper doors, creating sculptures of light rather than mere fixtures. A serene presence for spaces seeking quiet warmth.

Questions, answered.
What sizes does the Washi Paper Pendant Light come in?
The Washi Paper Pendant comes in three model sizes, all sharing the same drum silhouette:
Model 26A: ∅ 17.7″ × H 9.8″ (45 × 25 cm) — best for entryways, bedside, or compact dining tables. Model 21A: ∅ 25.6″ × H 11″ (65 × 28 cm) — ideal for standard 6-seat dining rooms. Model 15A: ∅ 34.6″ × H 13.8″ (88 × 35 cm) — a statement scale for large dining tables, hotel lobbies, or open-plan living spaces.
An option comparison chart on this product page shows all three models side-by-side.
What is washi paper, and is it durable?
Washi is a traditional Japanese-style paper made from the inner bark of the mulberry tree — known for its natural strength, long fibers, and translucent quality. Unlike standard pulp paper, washi resists tearing and produces a soft, even glow when backlit.
Each pendant is hand-formed, so subtle variations in texture, fiber pattern, and tone are part of the natural character — not defects. With normal indoor use, the paper is durable and long-lasting.
What kind of bulb does the Washi Paper Pendant use?
The pendant uses a standard E26 or E27 screw-base bulb (LED or Edison bulb supported). Use E26 in North America and E27 in Europe, the UK, and most other regions. Bulbs are not included.
For best aesthetic effect, we recommend warm-white LED bulbs (2700–3000K) — they produce the soft golden glow that complements the paper's natural translucency. Cool-white bulbs may make the paper appear flat or grey.
How is the Washi Paper Pendant installed?
The pendant is ceiling-mounted via a standard junction box and connects to a common wall switch (not included). The included 150 cm / 59″ cord is adjustable on installation, and we can extend it on request for higher ceilings or lofted spaces — contact us before ordering with your ceiling height.
Because the paper shade is large (especially Model 15A at 34.6″ diameter), we recommend two people for installation. A full installation guide is available in the Downloads section below.
What is the return and exchange policy?
Lia offers a 30-day return policy on undamaged items in their original packaging. Because each pendant is hand-formed from natural mulberry washi paper, slight variations in texture, fiber pattern, and tone are part of the material's authentic character — these are not eligible for return as defects.
For returns, exchanges, or any questions, contact support@Lia.com — we reply within 24 hours.
