Obolus Alabaster Pendant Light
Taking its conceptual cue from the obolus, the ancient coin of safe passage between realms, this pendant balances the quiet weight of an antiquity with pure, modern geometry. It stands not just as a source of illumination, but as a sculptural anchor suspended in space.Suspended individually, it forms a precise visual anchor above a bedside table, a dedicated reading nook, or a powder room vanity.
The orb is hand-cut from a single block of natural alabaster — a soft translucent stone whose milky veining diffuses light from within rather than reflecting it back. The brushed brass canopy and slim suspension stem keep the visual weight to a minimum, leaving the stone to read as a quiet, glowing focal point. With its compact 4.7-inch diameter, Etruscan slips into the small-pendant-on-a-nightstand role that drum and globe shades are too bulky to fill.
Every alabaster shade is hand-cut from a unique slab of natural stone, so the veining pattern, translucency, and tone will differ from the photographs and from piece to piece. The silhouette and proportions are consistent; the surface character is yours alone.
Two heights, one silhouette.
Same 4.7-inch alabaster orb — pick the shorter drop for compact ceilings or the taller drop for standard 8-foot rooms and small dining tables.

Quick questions.
Real questions from designers and homeowners adding a round alabaster pendant light to a bedside, entryway, or small dining nook.
Will the alabaster on my pendant look exactly like the photos?
No — and that's the point of natural stone. Each alabaster shade is hand-cut from a unique block, so veining direction, translucency, and warmth of tone will vary piece to piece. Your pendant will read consistent in shape and proportion to the photographs, but its surface character will be one of a kind.
Which size — 9.1″ or 12.2″ — works for my ceiling height?
The shorter 9.1″ drop is right for low ceilings under 8 feet, bedside applications, or anywhere headroom matters. The 12.2″ drop sits more naturally on standard 8-foot ceilings and reads in better proportion above small dining tables and breakfast bars.
Can the suspension wire be extended for a vaulted or two-story ceiling?
Yes. The standard wire is 150 cm (59″), and we can lengthen it on request — message us your ceiling height before the order ships and we'll cut to spec.
What kind of G9 bulb gives the warmest glow through the alabaster?
A 2700K G9 LED at 3–4 watts reads warm and even through the stone — the closest match to candlelight. Edison-style filament G9s also work and add a subtle amber tint. Avoid cool-white (4000K+) bulbs; they fight the warm cream of natural alabaster.
Will Etruscan work with US, Canadian, and European wiring?
Yes. The fixture is rated AC 110–240V multi-voltage and carries certifications for North America, Europe, Saudi Arabia, and Australia. It hardwires into a standard ceiling junction box and works with any common wall switch.
